They saved his life

“They saved his life and people need to know how incredible it is that we have this level of expertise here in Tulsa. Joe wouldn’t be here today if they didn’t get there so quickly.”

Laura says she was panicked when her partner, Joe, suddenly collapsed at their home and hit his head. She immediately called 911 and requested medical attention, which sent that call to EMSA dispatcher Andrew Core. While sending an EMSA crew to their home, Andrew worked to keep Laura as calm as possible and to help slow some of the bleeding.

Within minutes, EMSA Paramedic Savannah Gonzalez and EMTs Vivian Caldaza and Jacob Brown arrived at the home and began treatment. Laura says one thing that stuck with her was how often Savannah talked to her about what was going on and what they were doing to keep her calm. After moving Joe to the ambulance, Vivian came back to help clean up after Joe’s fall.

Recently, Joe and Laura stopped by EMSA headquarters in Tulsa to reunite with the EMSA crew and meet Andrew face-to-face. Joe and Laura said it was important for them to be able to say thank you to the people who saved his life.

Four Cardiac Saves in Two Years

Four cardiac saves in only two years at EMSA – that’s incredible!

EMSA EMT Jake Gigliotti recently received his 4th ROSC pin in his 2-year career at EMSA. ROSC pins are only given to EMSA crews whose actions helped save a cardiac arrest patient’s life.

This most recent pin was awarded to Jake following his response to a patient who overdosed and then went into cardiac arrest.

Jake says that although he was awarded each pin, he credits the EMSA medics he was partnered with for guidance during each call

“Honestly, I’ve been partnered with some pretty amazing medics.”

Way to go, Jake!
