This year marks a significant milestone in the history of Oklahoma City and Oklahoma. 30 years ago, the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in downtown Oklahoma City was targeted in an act of domestic terrorism. 168 people lost their lives, and hundreds of others were injured.

On April 19, 1995, EMSA Paramedic Michael King was on duty when he was called to the scene of an explosion at a federal building. It remains the toughest call he responded to in his career. EMSA Dispatcher Michael Curtis immediately rushed into work when he heard about the bombing, knowing he could help with coordination efforts during the rescue and recovery phase.

Three decades later, both these men still work at EMSA serving the residents of Oklahoma City. Michael King and Michael Curtis were honored for their service and sacrifice that day with Challenge Coins and a special badge from the Oklahoma City National Memorial & Museum.
